Disaster Response Efforts By Mission Heal

There are many tragedies and accidents happening on a daily basis in the course of life. The bitter truth is that most of these tragedies are beyond human control or intervention. The only thing that can be done is to respond to them in the most effective and timely manner so as to prevent more suffering caused in the process. Most of the disasters are usually as a result of natural or human causes, but once they happen, many lives are lost and a lot of property destroyed. In order to safeguard human kind from more suffering, more especially the children and the disabled, Mission Heal has rolled out various disaster response and management programs across the country and even outside. With each calamity coming with different repercussions, Mission Heal employs unique solutions for each of them to ensure the affected people come back to normal life.

Disaster preparedness
This is the greatest move anybody can take concerning natural and human calamities; being ready all the time. Through this program, many people have been made aware of the importance of being prepared all the time. Mission Heal has therefore ensured this preparedness by supplying first aid kits and equipment to schools, children's homes and several other places where they can be accessed once the calamity strikes. Firefighting equipment is also another way through which the society is kept prepared on fire tragedies. Any emergency calls for immediate action and this kind of preparedness is what is required most at times.

Training of disaster response teams
This is another great program that Mission Heal has actively rolled out to train teams on disaster response. Those trained are usually volunteers who need to learn more about disaster response and preparedness in case of an emergency. The training usually involves learning firefighting skills, first aid drills, evacuation and rescue of victims from disaster stricken areas. This training enables the teams to know what is expected of them when an emergency strikes. Reports indicate loss of many lives due to poor handling of victims and this can be prevented by having several teams trained on disaster management and response.

Active hands on involvement
Mission Heal is an NGO that has always been there in cases of emergency and disasters to team up with other rescue teams in the operation to help save more lives. Medical teams are usually sent to the rescue operations to help the victims with first aid and any kind of medical attention that may be required before the victims are sent to the nearest hospitals.
Many rescue teams usually stop at preventing more damage and loss of lives; they do not follow about the victims after the disaster. This is however not the case with Mission Heal which goes ahead to ensure the victims left homeless, orphaned or physically disadvantaged are given the necessary attention by providing the necessary rehabilitation for them. Children are taken to homes and orphanages where they are raised by well wishers’ contributions. The physically disadvantaged are treated and counseled to full recovery among other services.
Supply of relief food, medication and clothes to the grief stricken community is also necessary to help the victims get back to normal life.

There are more response efforts that Mission Heal takes part in just to bring back the normalcy in life for the victims of various calamities.  You can also join hands and help save a life.
